Like any organisation, the Pinnacle Club is defined by its members. Here are a few of the women who’ve made the club so special over its first century.
Emily (Pat) Kelly
Pat is remembered as the founder of the Pinnacle Club; her vision and energy had laid its foundations. Her journey to climbing came out of her passion to be independent.

Lilian Bray
“Bray” was a founder member of the Pinnacle Club; she was known for being forthright and a bit terrifying on first acquaintance. She was passionate about the club and generous in sharing her knowledge and skills.
Gwen Moffat
Gwen has been in the Pinnacle Club since 1949 and is our oldest member. Her early story is well known through her classic book Space Below My Feet.

Nea Morin
Nea Morin is probably best known for her first ascent of Nea (VS) on Clogwyn y Grochan in 1941 and her first all-female ascents in the Alps.

Angela Soper
Angela joined the Pinnacle Club in 1967 and has long been raising the bar in women’s climbing. Tales abound of her wandering up to the crag and soloing hard routes, to the amazement of onlookers.
Eleanor Winthrop Young
“Len” co-founded the Pinnacle Club, and was widely recognised as an excellent mountaineer, climbing extensively in the UK and the Alps as well as Norway.
